Day 9 – BFO

While talking to one of my roommates I had a BFO (blinding flash of the obvious). I realized that I am not afraid of riding. I am not afraid of my horse. I am not afraid of falling off. I am afraid of riding without control. I have never been hurt by a horse who was focused on me. Every bad experience I have ever had with a horse happened when their attention was on something else. I have been run away with, bucked off, stepped on, and felt generally unsafe, but only when the horse was thinking about something else. My best experiences were when my horse and I were thinking the same thing. Tomorrow I will be talking to an instructor about strategies to be the leader in the saddle.
